What Is A Microblog?
Well according to Wikipedia microblogging is:
"A form of blogging that allows users to write brief text updates and publish them."
What Kind Of Microblog Is This?
This particular microblog is powered by Asaph; which, according to the Asaph website is:
"A microblogging system, focusing on collecting links and images from other pages. It allows you post content directly from any page you are on."
How Does It Work?
Asaph runs on PHP5 and MYSQL4. Basically it collects all my posts into a MYSQL database and posts them to my microblog. Every time I find something I want to publish to my Microblog I use a handy javascript bookmarklet in my browser that posts exactly what I select along with a title I define. An description of exactly how this works can be found on the Asaph website along with an excellent screencast.
Why Am I Doing This?
Some people may think I'm doing this because I'm too lazy to write my own blog entries, and that is partially true, but the bigger reason is because I highly doubt there are many people interested in reading ramblings about my life like so many other people post to their blogs. So this way my entries are a lot shorter (mostly just an image), and a lot more interesting!
