Career Objective

From a young age Jonathan has had a keen interest in computers and has always sought after a career in this field. Now after exploring many areas of computing Jonathan’s main interest lies in web design and computer animation. Using his experiences and learning through university Jonathan is pursuing a career within the multimedia industry.

Operating Systems

Jonathan has expert understanding of all Windows and Mac operating systems and a good understanding of some Linux distributions.

Development Languages

Jonathan has expert knowledge of XHTML, CSS, ActionScript, JavaScript, XML, XSL, SQL and Visual Basic with a good understanding of PHP, ASP, Java and Pascal.

Applications

Jonathan has an expert understanding and working knowledge of the complete Microsoft Office Suite and the complete Adobe CS3 Master Collection.

Work Experience

May 2007 – September 2007 – Alphyra (Now Payzone Plc)

Position: Systems Admin

Alyphra (now Payzone Plc) is a large European consumer payment acceptance network. Here Jonathan worked as part of the systems admin team. Jonathan’s responsibilities included on- site desktop support, PC and server builds, server backups and comms room maintenance. Here Jonathan gained a lot of good experience, Jonathan learned the value of team work and the importance of being able to learn new skills quickly.

June 2006 - May 2007 - Intel Ireland

Position: Intel U PC / AV Support

On work experience placement year Jonathan worked for Intel Ireland as part of the Intel University team. Here Jonathan’s responsibilities included being in charge of all technical aspects of the 18 training rooms and 120 computers the department owned, re-building the department website, upgrading the training room equipment and being on call during all the working hours for any technical problems that may arise in the training rooms. Jonathan gained valuable experience and learned many new skills here from new computer abilities to working life in a worldwide corporation.

June 2002 - August 2006 - Marks and Spencer Ballymena

Position: Service Advisor / Store Operations and Facilities

For the first two years of part time employment Jonathan was part of the foods team, where he was involved in general duties such as filling out shelves and operating the tills. During this time Jonathan learned a lot about customer service and working as part of a team.

For the remaining two years Jonathan worked as part of the store operations and facilities team. Here Jonathan was given a lot more responsibility, as he was a key holder of the building and a member of the fire team. The pressures of this job were quite high as all stock delivered to the store has to be prepared and made ready for the other members of staff as quickly and efficiently as possible. Any set backs in this area can have an affect on the whole store. Jonathan really enjoyed working in this section of the business and found it challenging being such a major link in the logistical chain.

Summer 2005 - Craig Foods

Position Relief Van Sales / Warehousing

While working for Craig Foods Jonathan had to go on sales runs were he was on his own selling the company's products to different shops around the province. Here Jonathan learned the importance of working hard on his own, as pay was commission based.

Jonathan also spent some time working in the company's warehouse were each day he had to prepare each sales persons' stock for their next day of sales and general upkeep of the warehouse, including taking deliveries and organizing stock. Here Jonathan learned the value of working under pressure and working as part of a team.

Interests and Achievements

Sports

As a very out going person Jonathan enjoys many sports. Mostly extreme sports, such as skiing, wakeboarding and surfing. Jonathan also enjoys swimming and playing football.

Church

Jonathan is a committed member of his church where he is involved in youth work and other church activities.

Additional Information

Jonathan feels that he possess strong communication skills both written and verbal, he is excellent team player and a fast learner with the ability to take initiative to learn new things on his own.
